We will try to obtain an estimate of the amount that your insurance company is expected to pay. You will be required to pay the portion of the fee that is not covered by the insurance at the time of treatment. As a courtesy to our patients, we will file a claim for you and will submit it to your insurance company.
The estimated quotes that the insurance company provides are sometimes inaccurate due to yearly maximums or other treatment in other offices that has not yet been processed. You may have limitation on some procedures.
The most common misconception is that your insurance company will pay 50%, 80% or even 100% of our fees. That is not true and very misleading. In most cases insurances pay by UCR (usual, customary and reasonable). This is determined by your insurance company by surveying the areas, calculating an average fee, taking 80% of that fee and considering it UCR. In some cases, the payment issued by your insurance company is less than the actual bill that was charged. This is billed to you, the patient, once insurance has been paid.
